Blah!

I’m tired. My neck and back hurt. I have to cut the grass. I need to help my kid study for a test. Any excuse will do and I have used them ALL this week. I have done very little this week that is good for me and I feel like crap.

If I can’t get out of this funk soon I’m afraid that I will be back on the couch and back to my old life. HELP! What do you do when you just don’t want to exercise? What gets you pumped up and out the door?

You may want to go ahead and pick a race and sign up for it. This way, youve already spent your money and you have something you need to now train for.

The other thing to do is to find a small 5K or 10K sometime real soon just to try and get you back in the training mood and out of your funk.

Do you have any photos from St Anthonys? Take a look at them. Read your race report. Think about how good you felt crossing that finish line. Go back and read through the posts on your blog. See how far youve come from the person you used to be. This may help you remind yourself you dont want to go back. to that any more

Do you keep in touch with your fellow TNTers? Call one up and schedule some training time together. Now you have someone to be accountable to

DARN..Kevin beat me to what I was going to suggest...SIGN UP FOR A RACE!!!! That is what gets my butt out the door:) Set some goals for example...on running I did a 5k in this time and the next run I am going to do it this much faster ect......Good luck:)

I have bad exercise OCD so this usually isn't a prob for me. But Kevin is right. Sign up for a race!!

I totally agree that signing up for a race is good, but I am also a believer in taking a break when you really NEED one! You just did a big A-race, and you may need some time to NOT think about training, swimming yards, miles, pace, etc. I'd say embrace some time off and your desire to get back into it will come after you've gotten all the "rest" you need! Don't worry about being a couch potato again... those days are over and you won't let it get there again!

Poke Poke. What's next?!!! I just came out of my post race funk, so let's get going on training.

It's kind of fun to join up with a local tri-club. There are a few in Atlanta (NAMC, Atlanta Tri Club, Peachtree Tri Club). It helps get you motivated to get out there.
